Postponed until 2014 - Enterprise Architect Meta-model Development

  • Dec 4, 2013 · 4:00 PM

NOTE: Event postponed until 2014, our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is embarking on a move to service-oriented architecture (SOA) and agile development of its enterprise architecture. They have chosen Sparx Enterprise Architect as the main tool for managing and modelling the architecture and IT solutions.

The vision is for higher rates of re-use, flexible modularity, traceability, visibility, and lower total relative cost of infrastructure. The ABS has a large number of business lines (100+) and around ten times as many IT systems.

The risk is that the information overload can cause difficulty reaching the vision. The evolution of formal enterprise architecture management processes is key to controlling this risk, enabled by a suitable repository as a single source of truth to hold and manage the information. Therefore, the evolution of a meta-model and repository structure for Sparx Enterprise Architect has been a priority.

This discussion will review the journey so far, the path taken, where it's up to, and what's next.
