I recently had that very problem. I was telling my friends about my 30 year old wife. They asked how I managed that remarkable feat. I said, "It's simple: I lied about my age; told her I was 97

I stayed until 10:00 or so. No one asked me to dance and no one introduced themselves. I guess I wore the wrong dress. I'll try and do better next time. But for tonight. Discouraged.:-(.

I've been dancing for about 30 years; swing, country, Latin & more. I've taught lots of people how to dance. I'll be happy to dance with anyone if I'm not on a "date". Don't be afraid to ask!

I had a wonderful evening and made some wonderful new friends! And I'm sure I will get some flak regarding this comment, but I must say that we are all full-grown adults and hearing about dancing dancing AND more dancing re asking people to dance and they say no etc. etc. for 3 to 4 days now is getting to be a bit much. For the most part, these meet up groups are for socializing and having fun. Everybody is either a friend or a potential friend and it should be as simple as that and be a little less drama re ..... I hope all of you have an awesome Christmas and a safe and FUN New Years Eve!!

Hey Archer I'm not afraid to ask any or all women to dance at any event, however I can't dance like Gary can so, I do lack guts in that department and the ladies say _Ask Gary to teach you right ladies ? LOL, LOL

Here is an approach that always works for me. Go up to a woman and say "I have been looking for someone like you my whole life. Sadly, I have three types of terminal cancer, the walls of my heart are paper thin and I might go any second. To make matters worse, I have no one to leave my billion dollar estate too. I hate to think of no one using my private yacht to take them over to my private island in the Caribbean. I hate to think of my homes in the Swiss Alps, Monaco and other places unused. My 85 room mansion in Buckhead will be so empty once I go. I am just so sad that I have no heirs to share this bounty with. By the way, would you like to dance?" What is the response I get? They normally say "Screw the dance, I happen to know a place we can get blood tests 24 hours a day and it happens to be right next to a Justice of the Peace. Get your jacket buddy, times a wasting." See, you really do not have to dance. You just have to know how to speak to women.

Joe I presume u can walk, so u can learn how to. U will find it a great boost socially if u do. Go get some lessons, ladies will b very grateful that u did. All u have to do is want to learn, never too old.

If you're feeling less than placid from an over dose of stomach acid, step right up, yell don't stammer, grab you a mess of Arm&Hammer.
But beware, your fun you'll botch, this aint the kind you mix with Scotch; John Hartford said that.
A dance with you might have been what the Doctor ordered; I said that.

Thanks to Robyn, Gary, Jean, Steve and Ash for hosting. It takes quite a bit to get 239 people checked in and you guys did it with ease. Of the 7 no shows, not one has claimed they were there so you did a phenomenal job. Thanks to Kelly for the banana nut bread. When I got home, my son grabbed it and devoured it with the dog blocking my path, hoping to get any crumbs before I did. My son was nice enough to let me have a little. He woke up this morning asking for more. Thanks to Cookie for helping set up the event. Despite some of the complaints i read, I was impressed with the effort by Firefly. They were greeting guest and responded to all requests we made. Afterwards, they talked to us as to what improvements can be made and made a concerted effort to make things work, from working on the sound to creating a separate place to serve beer and house wine. They took last night as a learning experience and truly are putting in the effort to make events work great for everyone.

You are not on the going list. This event is at the cap of the restaurant. Those not on the going list will be turned away and removed from the group. Absolutely no walk-in's for this event. I would expect spots to open. Take one. However, anyone who simply shows up will be removed from Celebrate Atlanta tomorrow morning. ABSOLUTELY NO WALK IN'S.
