Brookwood Grill - Piano Bar & Martini Happy Hour - free food for Members

Join Celebrate Atlanta for another high end happy hour at the Brookwood Grill.  Pull up a seat at the piano, request a song and sing along.  How about some delicious food. Brookwood Grill will be providing Celebrate Atlanta a special menu designed specifically for our members.  The food is provided to members free of charge. Of course, for a full meal, the extensive menu is also available in the Piano Bar area.  To top it off, we will have a long list of $5 martinis.

The free menu for Celebrate will be:

Spinach Artichoke Dip which is served warm with Tortilla Chips, Salsa, and Sour Cream

Baked Ziti

This will not be what some like to call passed around appetizers (code for limited and deep fried).  There will be plenty for all.

$5 MARTINIS

Skinny Martini - Vodka, Fresh Lime juice, Splash of Cranberry

Peach Martini - Vodka, Peach liquor, Orange Juice

Cosmopolitan Martini - Vodka, Triple Sec. Splash of Cranberry

Apple Martini - Vodka, Sour Apple Schnapps, Splash of Sour

Lemon Drop Martini - Vodka, Triple Sec, Splash of Sour

Sunset Martini - Vodka, Triple Sec, Splash of Pineapple and Cranberry

French Martini - Vodka, Raspberry liquor, Splash of Pineapple

Margatini - Gold Tequila, Triple Sec, Lemon-Lime Sour

Zagat gives Brookwood Grill a great review:

FOOD 23

DECOR 21

SERVICE 22

Restaurant Inspection Score 100

Zagat says -The “menu seldom changes and neither does the clientele” at this longtime Roswell American that “hits the nail on the head” when it comes to “dependable”, “something-for-everyone” dining overseen by a “welcoming” staff; “intimate” booths allow social types to “actually talk”, though party animals are pumped by the “active scene” in the piano bar where the “entertainment is great” but the “singing drunk patrons are better.”

The only thing that Celebrate will be changing is the cost.  $5 Martinis and free food equals great food, drink and a great deal. So join us for another sophisticated happy hour as we enjoy great music, great food, great drinks and most importantly, the company of great friends.

Important Note:

Please note that per a discussion with Brookwood Grill, we are limiting attendance at this event due to continual walk-in's creating service and space issues, then complaining about it, even though they are the people causing the problem.  Walk-ins for this event are subject to removal from CA.  Due to the space limits, members are being limited to 1 guest.  If you have more guests, they will need to join the group and sign up for the event.

It was OK. Glad there were fewer people, for that made it easier to move around.

Gotta love the drama though, just like high school!
In the midwest groups have their own private supper clubs for this very reason, you can't control a venue, the owners do.
However, that said, why should they care as long as their full, just like the comments about Johnny's Hideway , I've experienced the same thing at clubs all over the use, its the same everywhere, people know they might not get into a special event, even if you show up and didn't know Elvis was having his birthday party there and the place is sold out!
    Part of the adventure!

In this case, that is not true. The complaint by management was that our crowds were so large that it hurt the nice restaurant atmosphere and hampered service. We have had crowds upwards of 115 in the past. They can comfortably hold 90 or so but with the patio you can add another 20. This time of year the patio is not usable. We had 72 attend tonight. I spoke to Chris to get his thoughts and he loved the size of the crowd. You could get around and we did not have huge lines for food. It was a comfortable size crowd and they were very happy that we were able to keep the size of the crowd down. Thus not every place wants to stuff people in.

I am shocked by the lack of professionalism from this group. In fact I am removing myself from this event so that the whiners can attend. Please enjoy!

    Dave,
Thank you for keeping it "real"! So sorry you have to be a babysitter to this group of so called "professionals". I would suggest as a cabinet adviser you reconsider letting folks sound off on postings..

    Have a fabulous evening everyone!

I'm new to this group but I want to thank those who organize these events as they are really superb. Having started and organized my own MeetUps in other states I know yah it can be maddening at times yet you do have a strong order in CA and I appreciate the intro to Atlanta through your efforts (especially Dave, Lynn and others with whom I'm as yet less familiar). Thank you

Think of Celebrate Atlanta as a microcosm of the real world, mostly good, sometimes bad -- except Dave has obtained great food and drink specials and great places to be. For those who can't handle the real world stay home with your dog or join the Mother Teresa Appreciation Society. Or better, as a Brookwood pianist may sing: "Let's get on with the SHOW!!

Timing is everything ! see you guys tonight I'm in, I will not sign up for the Feb. 6th event, someone else can enjoy that night. BTW as of 2:25 pm today there is one open spot

    January 16, 2014

    • Dave G

That is the funny thing about this who issue. If people on the wait list would simply be patient, the day of the event, we always see the "I joined a social group because my social life sucks but today is the day of the event and as usual, I will back out, stay home and watch the Magilla Gorilla marathon. Gee, I wonder why my social life sucks" change to not going and plenty of spots open. Thus instead of going bat quano and posting dumb comments like "I will go nuts if I do not go to this one event so I am coming anyway" they would likely get in.

uh, well, that notice went out to everyone on the wait list, not just you. In fact, you will receive a notice each time a spot opens. Therefore, if you are attending on February 6, you might want to remove your request for notice when a spot opens.

I do not think I have ever put an end time on an event. I guess you can look at it this way, for an individual member, the event ends when they leave.

I would be more than happy to do so...thank you Dave ....and everyone in Celebrate....Jim you need to have a drink and unwind...don't you think...

    1 · January 15, 2014

Perhaps if you looked at it from the perspective that the organizers went out of their way to add a second date, which means we as organizers have to also attend the second date. Perhaps if the members who started this issue in the first place had simply followed the rules, none of this would have occured. It is kind of hard to feel sorry for members who create a problem. In the long run, the problem created is for YOU too. How does anyone benefit if some members ignore the rules and thus we can never have the event again? Perhaps you should thank the members who spoke out and got those that caused the issue in the first place to back off. The organizers run the group on a voluntary basis and it should not become a hassle. A few members looked out only for themselves and said screw the rules. As to leaving the group, as I always say, if not satisfied, let us know and we will refund your fees but be careful so as to not let the door hit you on the way out.

To those on the wait list, while our normal cycle for this event is 3 months, I have scheduled a second happy hour at Brookwood Grill on February 6. Members on the wait list who e-mail will be given spots in that event, if they agree not to attend (as a regular, as a member, as an anything you want to call yourself) this coming Thursday so as to avoid losing the venue all together due to overcrowding. This offer is open until January 15 at 3 pm. After that, the February 6 Happy Hour at Brookwood, will be offered to the group as a whole. This offer does not apply to those on the going list. Please also note that sign ups for this coming Thursday (the 16th) will reopen once the event gets down to 70 attendees.

Dave, I understand your sentiments regarding this event. However; B/W Grill has a right, actually a duty, to limit the # of people who enter the establishment, if they reach capacity due to safety regulations or not enough staff. That means they can turn away C.A. members or the general public. This has happened to me at Johnnys a couple of times. I obliged and went somewhere else. Please don't cancel this event because of a few persnickety people. Let B.W. Grill decide who enters.

    January 13, 2014

  • Cheryl S.

It looks like there is an open spot at this time, but I am unable to grab it since RSVPs are closed. I would like to grab the spot if there is a way to do that. Thank-you.

    January 12, 2014

    • Dave G

Blame the selfish members on the wait list who insist on putting themselves above everyone else and saying they are attending even though they are on the wait list (makes you wonder why they bother to join the wait list or be a member of a group in the first place). In any event, I shut the event off so no one can be added to force the size of the crowd down. Those that attend from the wait list will be removed from the group.

      January 13, 2014

  • wesley p.

If I attend...it will not have anything to do with the "meeting"////I will go there on my own...like I do a couple of times a week anyway.....sorry if I you thought I wanted to be a guess of Celebrate.....after the quota....Sorry

    January 12, 2014

    • Dave G

You are missing the point. The place holds about 90 people. Whether you are there as a so called regular or with the group, you count toward the capacity. Brookwood Grill imposed a cap and I therefore limited attendance. If members can rationalize and get around that (if they are on the wait list) by sayingI will go but not with the group is irrelevant. You are taking up the same amount of space and make the cap a joke. That leaves the group with one of two solutions. Once is simply cancel the event. The other is to remove members who simply show up (whether with the group or not). If we are taking 85 spots and the place holds 90 and 30 from the wait list rationalize that they will come but they will not be with the group, the problem is exactly the same as if you show up from the wait list. We have certain venues that will require a cap and I expect members to abide by the cap. Besides, instead of abusing the rules, why not be patient and wait for an opening.

Dave, you are a trooper. Can't believe you have to continue explaining this. But.... on behalf of the group....thanks.

      6 · January 12, 2014

  • Alfred W. K.

Dave, I hope you don't cancel Brookwood as it's a fun, classy venue. I suspect there are many people who troll every event with the idea of walking in if there will be a great crowd, an unintended consequence of the success of the group. Besides dropping offenders as a given, lowering the cap or working with management to reserve lounge seating in some manner might be a plan. Whatever you do, your work, effort, and skilled negotiation are most appreciated

This event is now closed and no one from the wait list will be added. I will speak to Kevin at Brookwood Grill and let you know later today if the event will go forward. Due to members who are not on the going list saying they are coming anyway, I plan on proposing that the event be canceled since we were put on a strict cap that I cannot comply with if people who are not on the going list show up. We have 85 signed up and capacity of the whole lounge is 90. Clearly, the selfish members on the wait list do not care.

    January 12, 2014

  • wesley p.

Sorry I miss the list...but probably will attend anyway....I am a semi regular anyway....hope everyone enjoys!!

    January 12, 2014

    • Dave G

I am going to talk to Brookwood Grill and likely will cancel this event. We have been told that due to complaints by members of overcrowding that we CANNOT go over the cap. Since many members have continually ignored the caps and said they are coming, it seems best to cancel and stop using the venue. The few who do not follow the rules ruin things for the many. Too bad.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate your response. I'm a new member of Celebrate Atlanta and I would not expect to just show up with the group unless I received notification that a spot opened up and I was signed up. I am a regular at Brookwood Grill, & I go to Brookwood Grill at least twice a week, so if I was there, I wouldn't expect to be part of the group unless I was officially signed up. After I talked to one of the organizers she mentioned that the list does move very fast that's why it changes so quickly.
