Kennesaw Mountain Hiking - Ramped up a notch!

Let's get outside and get even more exercise!

This is my favorite hiking trail at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.  Normally I would do just a five-mile loop, gently rolling, nothing too strenuous...but...Mary has convinced us we are ready for more!

Let's do eleven miles together and then treat ourselves to lunch.  The weather should be perfect for a morning in the woods!

It will take approximately 3 hours.  Are you up for it?  Wear comfortable shoes, bring your positive attitudes.  No whiners, no slow pokes.  Bring water bottles and a snack.

Then we can lunch on the patio at West Cobb Diner, 3451 Ernest W Barrett Pkwy NW, Marietta, GA 30064, (770) 422-7717. (It's West Cobb's best kept secret! You'll thank me for introducing you to this local favorite.)

Let's meet at 9:00 at the new parking lot on Cheatham Hill Road in Marietta, just Southwest of the John Ward Rd. intersection.

NOTE:  This lot is on Cheatham Hill Road - not Dallas Highway and not at the Visitor Center.

DIRECTIONS:  Take 75 North to Barrett Pky exit, turn left (south) to Dallas Highway intersection, left on Dallas Highway, right on John Ward Rd, left on Cheatham Hill (parking lot on the right 1/8 mile).

From the Marietta Square:  West on Whitlock (which turns into Dallas Hwy), left on John Ward, left on Cheatham Hill (parking lot on right 1/8 mile).

Got in an incredible workout. Everyone was so proud we accomplished such a long hike. The reward was having lunch a West Cobb Diner with drinks. Excellent food great conversation.

I daresay y'all will not be arriving to the diner until about 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Is that right?

Just as a heads-up for the is strenuous. We will walk from Cheatham Hill to the Burnt Hickory lot, from there up 2 and 1/3 miles to the top of Kennesaw Mountain. It is downhill from there to the visitors center, there we will make a pit stop and refill water bottles. The route back is on the lower part of the mountain with lots of hills. Instead of 3 hours....with the crowds and warm weather....lets make it in 4. Hopefully it will not rain this weekend.

If you guys can do 11 miles in 3 hours, as a group, I'll be very impressed. My knees would only last about the first hour or so at that pace.
