Sherlock Holmes Murder Mystery-Georgia Ensemble Theater- benefits Relay for Life

Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure Suicide Club - $10 per ticket with 90% going to Relay for Life of Ruach

Celebrate Atlanta invites all members to a night of Broadway at the Georgia Ensemble Theatre.  Tickets while normally $25 to $40 will be $10 for Celebrate Atlanta members with 90% of the proceeds going to Relay for Life of Ruach Atlanta.  Relay for Life benefits cancer research, provides support for those that have cancer and support for those of us that have lost a loved one to cancer. In honor of the survivors, while optional, I hope you will wear purple or pink and if you have a cancer ribbon, proudly wear it on your lapel.

I do not need to explain the impact cancer has on people's lives, not only the person with cancer but those that are part of their life, especially family. I myself lost my mother to cancer as a child (I alway wear a pink ribbon on my jacket lapel in support of ending cancer) and thus I am posting an actual letter written by a child about his/her family and cancer's impact.  The letter was written in 2011.

"Dear Cancer:

First you invaded my mommy’s body you took it over and i hate you. You made her sick and cry in pain for days on end. You made her lose her hair and her eye lashes, you took away her feeling of beauty and youthfulness, you took away our family’s sense of security. But you did NOT take her. she beat you and you came back for my daddy. now he cries In pain and can’t eat without getting violently ill. You turned my daddy my superman, and turned him into a man who can barely walk down the stairs anymore. He will continue to fight you, we all will. Cancer will NOT take you daddy.  CANCER, LEAVE MY FAMILY ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sadly , there are hundred's of thousands of letters just like this.  Therefore join us on February 26 for Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure Suicide Club at Georgia Ensemble Theatre in Roswell.  As I said, your $10 admission with 90% going to Relay for Life of Ruach Atlanta and with your help, maybe the letters of children about their parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends will be a thing of the past.

As to the play:  Behind the impressive facade of a windowless house, some of Europe's most powerful men gather to play a game, The game is murder, and this is the Suicide Club.  But the club has a new member; Sherlock Holmes - brilliant, perceptive, the greatest detective in the English speaking world. Does Holmes want to die?  Or is some other game afoot as he and Watson always seem one step behind as the corpses of Europe's power players stat turning up all over London.  This beguiling thriller brings the famous detective fully alive on our state with a tale filled with endless mystery, twists and chills in this sharp and clever brand new Holmes adventure.

So join us for a night of great theatre while helping fund the fight against Cancer at a great price with 90% of your $10 admission fee going to Relay for Life of Ruach.  The play starts at 7:30 but we will have a table set up and you can get your tickets earlier.  I have placed the start time at 7:00 but we will be there by 6:30, if you want the best choice in seats. Thanks to Lisa Meyer and her work with Relay for Life of Ruach.

Yep....that was my phone. Dave gave it to Jean to return to me. Love this group...I don't know all personally but Dave and all CA organizers give me the confidence to say I would enjoy meeting everyone if the time allowed. I agree the parking was a challenge but the venues and people we meet make it OK. Welcome to CA Cathy...we're glad you joined.

Parking for Diesel was a bit tough. I spent more time driving around looking for parking than socializing.Food was very good, though and it was a nice mini-event before the play. This was my second meetup event. I am looking forward to the next one!

Thanks, Dave for making this a success. And the homemade chocolate covered strawberries were an elegant touch. Thanks to everyone that attended. This was a great fundraiser for a the Ruach Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.

I want to thank each of you for attending and thus making a donation to Relay for Life. In total, we had over 160 attend and purchase tickets through Relay for Life with almost 100 of those from Celebrate. We raised over $1,500 for Relay for Life. The real power and brains behind this event was Lisa M and Esther Shultz. Not only did Lisa and Esther reach out to me but they were the one's that put this event together for Celebrate. They also worked hard at check-in. I also want to thank, Melissa, Sue Ellen, Monica, Arlene and all the others who helped at the theater. I want to thank Jean and Amy K., who helped at Diesel. Several other organizers offered there assistance but we simply did not have enough room but I do appreciate the offer to donate your time tonight. I also want to thank Ellie for the Auto Show tickets. I was very touched by your thinking of me. We will be hosting Hello Dolly on April 10 and have a great surprise in store. I hope you will join us that night.
