Whole Foods Gelato - Contains Wheat

After tasting and then ordering gelato at the whole foods in tribeca, I was shocked to hear that their gelato served by the bakery/drink counter contains wheat. Although I then saw a sign in the corner of the counter window, I definitely had not noticed it before. This is the first time I have ever heard of gelato not being gluten free, however after emailing whole foods it was confirmed. (see below)

We recently switched to creating our gelato in-house. The base needed for making
the gelato with our equipment contains wheat.

We do have many gluten-free offerings in the store including ice cream in our
grocery Department.

We will research to see if there a wheat-free base.
