We have celiac disease. We eat gluten-free. But that doesn't mean we don't know how to PARTY!

You're officially invited to The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center's debut fundraising bash in NYC!

It's a night you'll want to be part of, and your ticket INCLUDES:

• An hour-long open vodka bar hosted by Devotion Vodka (6-7pm)

• Delicious, hot, gluten-free Margherita pizzas served by world-renowned pizza chef Roberto Caporuscio of Don Antonio's

• Live music by AJ Smith

• Celebrity Host Miss New Jersey Jenna Drew

• A silent auction/raffle with fabulous prizes from the best NYC gluten-free hotspots

• Your favorite gluten-free finger foods

It doesn't matter if you have celiac disease, a gluten intolerance, or have no idea what gluten is. Party among friends and make new ones that share one simple thing: they eat gluten-free or know someone who does!

Come support your friends or family and the cause in honor of one of the least understood but most widespread (and growing) health problems of our age at the largest gluten-free party in the city.

100% of the proceeds - yes, every single cent raised - goes toward supporting The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center's awareness and outreach programs. Learn more on the right sidebar and at

Full disclosure: I am an organizer of this event. That said, I truly believe it was incredible. I've gotten fantastic feedback from the crowd.

We had 300 people + raised over $9000. There is obviously demand for this type of happy hour/bar environment-type event. People had a great time with free gluten free food and drinks; the DJ + musician were great, raffle prizes very generous (and many of them), and entry price extremely reasonable. To Doug's point, it's a bar...of course it's going to be crowded and somewhat "noisy". That's the point! :) The Buddha Bread people unfortunately came extremely late and so weren't prepared with samples until nearly 8pm. I'm sorry you left too early to sample them, as they were indeed delicious.

The pizza traveled across town to get to the location but despite it not being fresh out of the oven hot, it was still delicious and available for the taking. 60 pies went in the first hour.

Thanks to those who came for supporting this GREAT cause!!

It was definitely too loud, but I still managed to talk to a bunch of people, some I knew and some I didn't. The hot Bread Empire samples were great, and I liked the pizza, too, even though it wasn't warm.

Crowded, noisy, not conducive to meeting/talking/socializing with anyone new; bring your own companionship! Pizza not so hot (literally) but some tasty cookies, and ice cream cones (not crazy about what went in them, though). Surprise delights from Goldbaum's -- including the cones -- were their quinoa chips & chow mein noodles! Sadly, no samples arrived in time from Buddha Bread. Made the rounds, and left early, after the one-hour free open bar (vodka only) ended.

My printer is on the fritz. Will we need the paper ticket or will our names just be on a list? (Or: I also have the Eventbrite app.)

I would suggest using the app!

My mother just had surgery for lung cancer, so I unfortunately won't be able to make this! :(

Sorry we will miss you Georgianna! Hopefully next year. Wishing your mother success in her recovery!
