Type 1 diabetics are at an increased risk for developing celiac disease, which adds a challenge to an already strict diet. In fact, both celiac and Type 1 diabetes are associated with the HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 genes and 3% - 8% of people with Type 1 diabetes will have biopsy-confirmed celiac disease. NFCA will review the research on the link between these conditions and provide dietitians with strategies on how to successfully treat patients living gluten-free while also needing to manage their diabetes. This webinar will feature industry expert Laurie A. Higgins, MS, RD, LDN, CDE of the Joslin Clinic.
Two lucky webinar participants will win a gluten-free gift basket from Vitacost.com, a $30 value. Details about products included in the gluten-free gift basket can be found at CeliacCentral.org/webinars.
Continuing Education Credit: RDs and DTRs are able to participate in this live 60-minute webinar to obtain CE credits regardless of this program's approval status as long as the webinar is professional in nature. NFCA will provide a certificate as proof of participation for each webinar. Attendees must complete the program evaluation/follow-up survey in order to access this certificate. Program participants will receive a link to complete the program evaluation/follow-up survey 24 hours after the close of the webinar through an email from GoToWebinar. Participants must complete the survey and download the certificate before the date of the next webinar. See webinar schedule.
