Stopped by Zabar's to try the good from Tully's.

(Note to self: NEVER go to Zabar's on a Saturday afternoon again!)

Tried samples of the brownie, chocolate chip cookie and the cranberry white chocolate oatmeal cookie. I really wish I could say I was impressed, but I wasn't. All three seemed underbaked and at $8.98 and $9.98 for a box of what looked like 6 cookies, overpriced as well. The packaging is attractive and the cookies are individually wrapped, so points there for convenience.

It's really great that there are vendors out there trying to create GF products, but it feels like there are as many "misses" as "hits," if not more.

In 13 years on a GF diet I never found a cookie I liked. They all taste to me like a mixture of cardboard and baking soda with some flavoring.

Have you ever tried the shortbread cookies from Schar? They are really good.

I used to eat loads of them when I was living in Switzerland but I am having a tough time finding their products in the US/NYC.

I buy Schar products at Wild by Nature and I have found them at Waldbaum's in Westhampton Beach, both on long island. I love the shortbread cookies as well as the hamburger buns (toasted). I even like the pasta too. A blend of corn/rice. In NYC I believe the health food store on 3rd ave around 34th St. carries some Schar products. I will check next time I am there.

June and everyone,

Yesterday I decided not to be stingy and bought La Vita All Natural Crunchy Cookies (http://www.lavitaheal...) - please try them - I hope they will change your mind about good g/f cookies! I paid $4.99 for 10 of them but considering the fact that I am trying to loose weight, it is money well spent!

I have to look up the brand/ mfg. I was in Montreal last month and my cousin bought me these excellent almond / coconut cookies. I us to love to eat Italian Pinolli Nut cookes, these cookies were an excellent subsitute.

Aleia's bakery makes pinoli cookies & they carry them in whole foods. I like them they are very sweet though.
