There are many talented musicians throughout Dallas who play Irish music, and also many people who love to listen to the shows. Lately the venues which have supported these musicians have turned to other means of entertainment, like cover bands or DJs.
The Celtic Music Circle connects the Celtic musicians and Irish music community of DFW, as well as elsewhere, in an effort to create a network that facilitates:
an open exchange events and ideas concerning our music community.
a forum in which rideshares, group or individual childcare, and fundraising can be discussed so that more people can attend events in support of the community.
the planning of house concerts, which would create another viable venue for hearing Celtic music, but in an acoustic and more intimate type of setting. Covers or suggested donations would ensure that musicians would be compensated.
The forming of a new monthly session, which would be friendly for players of tunes, as well as those who sing or perform ballads. All levels welcome, and different folk styles welcome as well.
Please join this new group and be a part of the new Celtic Music movement, in which we can all celebrate the beautiful jigs, reels and songs that came from Ireland so long ago, so that we may all laugh, cry, sing, and drink together.
