Look into rocky's retreat for hydrotherapy
Several years ago, I had a Neapolitan mastiff with some unidentified degenerative condition that caused increasing loss of control/paralysis in his hind end. I had great luck with K9 Carts - they custom build for your pet so you should be able to get something that works for your big boy. Mine wasn't as tall as a Dane, but he was pretty big so I'm sure they can help you. The cart I had was pretty stable and we used to be able to even take walks in the woods.Just some additional insights I have regarding giant breeds in chairs: It would be very beneficial for you to pursue some sort of swimming therapy as well as chiropractic/acupuncture. Because these guys are so big and have so much weight to pull on their front ends, they tend to get out of whack in their alignment. I found that regular treatments with the chiro/acu kept my boy's aches and pains at bay and kept his front end in good working order. Same thing with the swimming: It really helped to exercise his front end in a low impact way to keep him really strong for getting himself around. Once their front end goes, you're out of luck. =( Physical therapy (basically just you massaging and flexing) the back legs is also important to keep the circulation going.I also recommend encouraging him to walk as much as is reasonable OUT of the chair. Even if it's only a few steps....Once my boy got in the chair and realized how much easier it was to get around, his back end degenerated very rapidly. It progressed very quickly to the point where he couldn't use his hind legs at all. If I had it to do over, I would have encouraged more independence in the earlier days. I know ultimately it would have ended the same way, but I think he would have been able to stay a bit more mobile for longer had I done that.Good luck! It's a lot of work to maintain these guys in this condition, but in my experience it was well worth it. If you need any support or would like to talk more about it, please feel free to PM me.Michelle

Had a collie with a spinal tumor in a wheelchair. Was very happy with the Walking Wheels. Hadicappedpets.com

Hi,
Hope that I'm not using this site the wrong way but I have a dilemma. I have a large 11 year old Great Dane male, 145 lbs, that has developed DM. He can walk a little bit for a couple of steps then falls. We purchased an XL Best Friend Mobility WC but he just tips over in it plus it's not tall enough for him. Do any of you kind folk have any experience with wheelchairs and are there any particular brands you would recommend? Any advise is welcomed and will be considered. I hate these times in our best friends lives.
