"PUBLIC OPTION NOW" VIGIL TONIGHT AT LAKE EOLA
Sponsored by MoveOn, Democracy for America and True Majority Given that DFA is one of the sponsors of tonight's Public Option Now Vigil and time is of the essence on the health insurance reform debate, we will dispense with a formal meeting tonight and join the vigil. I have been asked to tell my friend's story, and I know Steve Barnes is speaking, too, so others of you may also be telling your stories.
In any event, I hope that as many of you as possible can come to Lake Eola. They are meeting on the Rosalind Avenue side of the park. I was told the corner of Robinson and Rosalind; however, having done events there before, I suspect that it will gravitate toward the bandshell and the broad walkway entrance to the park at the foot of Washington St. We have been asked to bring a candle or flashlight, and umbrellas were also recommended if the weather is inclement.
The Organizers sent the following instructions:
Our vigil will be simple and dignified. We'll gather at 7:30 PM (local time) on Wednesday, September 2nd. We will share stories and names of people who are suffering under our current broken health care system. We'll put a human face on the urgent need for bold health care reform that includes a real public health insurance option. With our actions, we'll deliver an unmistakable message to the media and members of Congress: We can't afford to wait.
This is not a rally or a place for speeches or announcements. This is simply a moment to stand with the thousands of people who lose their health care coverage every day and millions more who struggle with the unbearable cost of health care. This principle is important. We ask that you only attend the event if you agree to abide by it.
