A 6.5-mile hiking trail that meanders through a diversity of habitats is available in the park's northern wilderness area. A primitive camp, located along the trail, is available by reservation only. Little Manatee River State Park's nature trails have been designated as the area's best hiking trails. The Florida National Scenic Trail runs through Little Manatee River State Park and is maintained by Florida Trail Association volunteers.
This event will be shared by both SAG and SLACKER members.
The entrance of the Trail Head is located North of Lightfoot Road on 301, once you pass the Canoe Outpost and go over the bridge look for the dirt trail on your left. You do not have to enter the main park to begin this hike. We will meet in the parking lot, there is a park and pay of $3.00, please bring singles.
Bring plenty of water to keep hydrated (one 12ounce bottle is not enough), bug spray, sun screen and a snack if you wish. We will be stopping at the primitive camping site to take a break and enjoy our snack.
