It's been a rough week with all the commits so I decided to schedule a last minute campout. Let get together, party, paddle and campout.
We will be camping Friday and Saturday nights at the awesome Canoe Outpost.
Connie has scheduled a couple of hikes in the area Saturday and Sunday that people can attend.
The camping cost will be $20.00 per tent per night. If will can get 10 or more people I will try and reserve the group campsite and save us some money. There are wonderful bathrooms and great hot showers available for this camping and paddling adventure. Depending on water levels we will be paddling some part of the little Manatee or another river in the area.
The Little Manatee River is a classic tannin-stained Central Florida river. It is a Florida Designated Outstanding Waterway. In a day's paddle, it transitions from a 10-20 foot wide creek meandering through ash and oak dominated floodplain to a 300-foot wide tide influenced river fanning through tidal marsh that empties into Cockroach Bay/ Tampa Bay. The sandy bottom and gently sloping banks create a number of spots to stop and stretch or eat.
Please bring a PDF, whistle, water and lunch/snack.
