Paddling the St Johns River - Segment 1

  • I plan to paddle the entire St. Johns River from Melbourne to Jacksonville. We will do this in segments.

This trip is the first segment. We will meet at the Camp Holly Fish Camp on Hwy 192 and the St Johns River. We will paddle about 12-14 miles and camp. On Sunday we will paddle another 12-14 miles to the take out on Lake Poinsett.

Did the second segment on Thanksgiving weekend and it was wonderful. Lots of nature.

This will be an exploratory paddle since we have never done this trip before. Expect this to be a difficult paddle because we will not know water level, the course of the river to follow or the condition of the camp sites. This trip will be limited to people who are experienced paddlers and are prepared for the unexpected.
