Since deposits were not received this trip will probably be postponed. Is anyone interested in making this a Dry Tortugas Trip. Going out on the 9th and returning on the 11th. That gives us the 12th to drive back from Key West.

Please e-mail me with your phone number so we can discuss arrangements.

Let's just let everyone choose their own flights and make it a group trip from the airport in Arizona on

Thanks Julie for offering this awesome trip. We really appreciate the effort.

I need a $500.00 deposit by Friday Jan 17, 2014. If we do not have at least 10 people committed we can not take advantage of group airfare discounts. We have to go as a group and return as a group. If we get more than 10, then some of you can make other flight arrangements.
Please mail checks to Sam Gellerstedt
    MESA Medical

    West Melbourne FL 32904

If I have not received a deposit or an email saying you have mailed a deposit, then I will assume you are not going.

    Thank you

Interested in this trip so I will keep my eyes on it as we draw closer to it. I have always wanted to raft "the canyon" so I vote with Sam on the 4 day trip. Also a Navy vet.

Very interested in this trip but I am a little confused. . . . would we be doing a 3 or 4 day rafting trip in this 6 day time frame or would that be extra money and extra days? According to the itinerary, we have Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun. The other two days are travel days. Also, is anyone planning on staying longer to see Bryce and Zion?

    August 9, 2013

    • Sam G.

We will make definate plans later in the year. at this point nothing final. Also some people may do one thing and other another (ie 3 or 4 day paddle - extra days etc.)

      August 10, 2013

  • Sheila B

Sam, is there any way we can build our own itinerary? Such as rafting, kayaking, hiking, riding the donkeys in the Grand Canyon and making stops to Bryce and Zion? I want to pack it all in while I'm there!

    1 · June 11, 2013

I did Zion last year..and am leaving to go do all of them this weekend: Zion, Bryce, North Rim of Grand Canyon-(donkeys if I want), Arches, etc. A cool thing to do is rent kayaks from Lake Powell (or see if we can get them from Tuthill) ..go up to Glen Caynon (get a boat shuttle up the Colorado) and kayak/float back down to Lees Ferry where they put in for Grand Canyon raft trips. The Lees Ferry area is hurting for business as US 89 is closed, but the road will be fixed (at least alternate) by then. You might be able to get some killer deals. They have a great steakhouse in Lees Ferry they tell me. You can't rent kayaks at Lees Ferry...and thus need to carry them.

It's too far out, and if I am in that area I am backpacking. thinking of doing a travel assignment in Vegas or Utah next year - if that is the case I may see you for a day or so- depending on my work schedule

This sounds really AWESOME!! I am thinking I might enjoy the drive out and back rather than flying.............. BUT, It is so hard to make plans so far in advance........... I am thinking I would like the 3 day Grand Canyon trip then go explore the cave dwellings in Walnut Canyon and maybe rent a kayak for a day or so and take it easy!! This whole area is soooo beautiful!!

I will keep an eye on this trip. It's hard to commit to that lone in advance for me. I would do the rafting trip. Does anyone know if they stop to camp by hot springs during rafting? We can also rent a car and explore on our own. Hikes there are well documented on the web, and you can find gps points for complete hikes easily.
