NCL Sun - small in size, large in awesomeness! If you're looking for a 20+ story ship with a rock wall, amphitheatre or water slides, this is NOT your ship.

The Sun is small enough to find your way around, yet large enough to get away.

This is just an FYI. Kristi has found several really pretty dresses so I am going to get subway Lowes Foods to match her pretty outfits.

For those that have not cruised and a reminder to those who have. The last night you have to put out your luggage by 11:00pm to be stored away. That means you need to have a day bag to hold all your things that you will need. You will have to carry that with as we have to be out of our cabins early Sunday morning, and sit and wait to disembark.

    December 5

  • Tom

Where are we meeting after boarding?

    December 4

    • Brian K.

Kristi and I will be at the "Outdoor Cafe" on deck 11, around 3:30/4:00pm . We will try to grab seats near the Starboard side. If you meet us there, that would be Great.

      December 4

A back-up place is the "Observation Lounge" if weather is bad.

For those that are kayaking or participating in a water activity, you may (or not :) want to bring a dry bag.

What shore excursions have anyone signed up for so far. We would like to do a Mayan Ruin trip.

    November 9

    • Ann F.

Costa Maya - I've never done an excursion there BUT if anyone wants to swim with the dolphins, this is a place that could be inexpensive. You simply walk off the ship and see them on the left. No transportation needed and no need to pay the ship prices. I asked and the lady said she would give a discount if I paid her cash. When on the tram back to the ship, I heard a lot of people say they really talked them down and got a GREAT price. I did it in Cozumel a few years ago so no need to do it again but paid WAY TOO MUCH and the pictures were WAY TOO MUCH. In Costa Maya, someone can be standing on the shore and take the pictures.

We have a GREAT trip in Roaton. It would be great to have you join us.

If anyone is interested and still going on the cruise there are still cabins available at a very very affordable price.

    November 26

  • Matt

Brian, I looked at the web sight for the Mahogany port we will be going to in Roaton. It looks like a good beach in walking distance. Have you been there?

    November 25

    • Brian K.

Yes. The resort right there is very nice. Two or three rest./bars and plenty of space to relax. Shade trees and sunny spots.

      November 25

  • Matt

Ellen and I have decided on our excursions, but we have not booked yet. The number in parenthesis is the Shore Excursions number for easy reference. We are bringing our own snorkeling gear since it may be used at multiple stops.

Roatan - no excursion yet, but we may look at Linda's recommendation for a day pass at Coco View for good beach and snorkeling.
    Belize - Xunantunich ruins & tubing (S1344) $119/99pp
Cosa Maya - Chacchoben ruins and Bacalar Kayak(S1614) $84.99pp
Cozumel - I will do the 2 tank marine park SCUBA diving excursion (S1283) $64.99 (with my own gear) $78.99 (rent everything)

We are looking to do catamaran sailing and snorkeling in both Roatan and Cozumel.

More great news. There is a mini fridge in each room. That way you can chill your favorite beverages.

  • Brian K.

Here is the scoop on the bring aboard drinks. Any bottle of wine or champagne will be charged a Corkage fee of $15 . No matter if you drink in cabin or dining room. You can bring as much as you want of soda or water. As long as your beverage of choice is in an unbroken, sealed bottle.

  • Matt

If you have not done so already, we were just notified that the rest of our money is due. have any of you started booking the day excursions. Dory provided us with a web site (shoretrips.com) to book them. I know that I want to book one of the Cozumel dives and at least one Mayan ruins excursion. I would like to see what the rest of you have found. I would love to find a cheap alcohol package, but no luck. Matt

    September 13

    • Kristi S.

Matt, speak with Brian regarding the alcohol, and what packages we may be booking. Thx

      September 14

  • Matt

Does anyone have ideas in how to get discounts or specials for things like alcohol packages or shore excursions?

cruise critic has a forum for those traveling December 7th on Norwegian sun. http://boards.cruisec...

      August 5

    • Linda S

I agree with Brian. There is risk booking "on your own". It may be harder to get refund if stops change. weather bad, and sometimes you have to (carry) and pay cash. You may have to get a taxi or have a longer walk to get to the vendor. Cruise critic groups sometime organize trips. Good luck!

      August 5

  • Matt

Ellen and I made our reservations. We are in a balcony state room. Yeah, can not wait. This will be our first cruise! Are there any SCUBA divers going? I want to know which one stop I should plan a dive. I am very interested in seeing the ruins, so do not want to dive on the best ruin stops. Ellen does not dive, so she will be looking for a drinking/shopping buddy for that time.

You can get a day pass at CoCo view Resort http://www.cocoviewre... and scuba dive at Roatan. We used a guy..rented a van to come pick us up. Victor Bodden. http://www.boddentour... They do a sort of tour/to and from. YOU customize the van trip how you want. Those that do not dive, can snorkel at CoCo View. IT IS a bit of a WALK up the hill to get to the vans...if you are using the new Mohogany Bay (or whatever) pier at Roatan. OUTSIDE vendors have to meet you outside. They built a special multimillion pier complex. Carnival uses it. If so, they have a beach next to pier, lift chairs or whatever to the beach. My February notes say "Water temperatures vary between 76 - 86. If you are prepared for 78 F, you should be comfortable". BE sure to allow EXTRA time to get back to the ship. traffic, etc. We had plenty of time and did some sight seeing (overlook etc)....on way back. You can skip monkey jungle.

      August 5

    • Linda S

As Brian said, Cozumel for diving, too. Drift dive. Co-Co-view in Roatan for diving will NOT have many folks if any from the ship because they won't know about it. You can shore dive in Roatan from Co-co view, They have some kayaks, It will be more solitary and peaceful. You take a boat (free water taxi) to cocoview..across the water.

Signed Up and Paid Up!! I lost my roomy if anyone else needs a spot and likes the inside cabins, (Least motion and cheapest to boot!!) let me know, I am also trying to get friends to go, so if I find someone else, please do not be offended......"It's Not you, it's me" lol

    1 · July 15

  • Linda R.

Hey Brian, Yes Lois did notify me that she cannot go. I would like to ask my daughter to join me if she can, but if not, yes by all means we can open it up for a room-mate or two, I think these cabins can hold 4, and I always say the more the merrier!! I will let you know soon. Either way I am sending the deposit to hold the cabin.

    2 · July 9

    • Brian K.

You can bring your daughter. And yes if you have more who want to join us yes the more the merrier

      1 · July 9

  • Julieta

Got my reservation and deposit. I can't wait to sail under the Skyline bridge, sail those beautiful azure and turquoise waters, snorkel in some of the most transparent waters, explore exotic Belize and amazing Mayan ruins. You can't beat this prize! 7 nights for a little over 500 it's almost hard to believe, even military discounts and AAA can't beat the prize that Brian has negotiated. Thanks, should be an awesome cruise.

  • lois v.

I want to go if I can find a room mate. I don't snore. I think. At least, I've never snored loud enough to wake me.

    May 10

    • Linda R.

Hey Lois, I would love to be a room-mate provided you agree to an inside, midship cabin...... I get sea sick and although I will be wearing a patch, the least rocking is low and midship (that knowledge comes for working for Carnival Cruise Lines a million years ago when they only had 3 ships) Besides it is always the cheapest......

      July 7

    • Linda R.

Oh and I sleep with a C-pap machine so NO snoring unlike when I am tent camping!! lol

      July 7

  • Matt

Is there a special rate for this trip? We have never done a cruise, how does this compare to others?

    July 5

    • Brian K.

I apologize for the short answer. Had to run out. This ship is spectacular. It is small but very nice. As to cost. Our price is very low compared to normal cost. Many factors make it a good buy. Parking is less, and we leave from Tampa.Norwegian is a great cruise line. This will be a great First-timers cruise.

      July 5

    • Brian K.

Here is a review to read.http://www.cruisecrit...

      July 5

  • Brian K.

FYI: For those that are on the fence about going or not. PLEASE sign up and make a Deposit to HOLD your ROOM RATE. You have up to Sept. 16 to get a FULL refund if you can't go. It would be better to cancel than to try to get in later on when the Cost goes up and the ship releases our Block of rooms. It would be sad to have members not be able to go at such a Discounted price.
