Two Day Glamping Paddle and Camp - Ray's Wayside to Eureka

This will be a "Glamping" paddle (ie bathrooms and cold showers). We will set up a base camp at Gores Landing and paddle the Ocklawaha River from Rays Landing to Gores (Saturday) and from Gores to Eureka West (Sunday). I plan to arrive late Friday to set up the base camp. Participants are welcome to camp both nights, one night only or not at all.

Saturday night will be a potluck dinner night. Everyone contributes and everyone shares. Please note in the comment section below what you will contribute.

The Ocklawaha is said to be a very old river geologically, and as a result has created a mile-wide valley. It has a sand bottom and its waters tend to be very clear with occasional areas where tannin from the swamps colors the water a darker hue.

Gores Landing have campsites on a first-come,first-served basis; we will share sites to fit everyone; small pup tents are advised or share large tent - whatever works and people are comfortable with. There are bathrooms with outdoor showers. There are a total of 12 campsites at Gores, hopefully there will be sites available to us.

EVERYONE IS INVITED FOR SINGLE DAY TRIP and/or to hang out for food/drink at campsite on Friday or Saturday evening, or camp at other locations.

Everyone on the water is required by law to have a PFD and a whistle.

Rental kayaks are available. Let me know if you need to rent one.

It had to be a five star as that matched the meal we had Friday night. Who else has ever has freshly cooked salmon salad for the main course and creme brulee for dessert in the middle of camping in the Ocala Natl Forest?

Ill probably do both nights. My camping eqpt. is still back in Missouri. Is a tent necessary. I'll need to stay away from most when sleeping as I snore terribly! I'll bring spaghetti with meat sauce. I will need to rent a kayak. Can someone fill me in on the rental please?

Last weekend the fresh drinking water at Gore's landing had a very very strong sulfur smell and taste. You should bring with you all of your needed drinking/cooking water.

The water always is like that; you will notice in back of the building they clean what they use and recycle. Over 50 years now.
