Greetings everyone! I am the new “Social Events” coordinator. I am looking to host at least one event per month. Perhaps more often and could be at the last minute if events are cancelled due to bad weather. My goal is to make these social events fun, easy, and stress free. Some events may be listed for well behaved “kid and/or pet” friendly.

Some ideas I thought might be of interest: wine tastings, art museums, botanical gardens, movies, concerts, miniature golf “tournaments” (including trophy for 1st place), dinners, etc. I thought for some of the dinners we could explore cuisines from various countries, or just traditional meals depending on what strikes our fancy.

I am not limiting the events to just Central Florida. Please know, I welcome any ideas you may have. Let me know if there something you would like me to research or post an event.

I look forward to your thoughts.

I love this idea, and just left a post in the "Maine in the summer" topic about having a BRAIN STORMING meeting and possibly making it a pot yes! lets do it!

Here is where I want to go - note the teepee's for camping - real glamping here too. I know there are places in FL, but this is the best one I've seen, longer courses as well. Should be hiking and kayaking in the area as well.

While up North near the Chesapeake Bay, we got into visiting as many lighthouses as possible. It would be nice to do paddle or visit one of the Florida lighthouses.

I have lived in FL most of my life and have never explored the lighthouse perspective. I think this is a marvelous idea.

I would like to suggest a gear swap/sale. We could all meet at a central location and bring all our extra gear to see if anyone is interested.

This is a great idea! I love botanical gardens trips.

I just bought the family groupon for Sunken Gardens for $25.
It is good for BOK Tower too...via the reciprocal membership.

Callaway gardens is on the AHS reciprocal list. (If you buy the $25 annual pass).

For a can go to an animal drive through safari nearby and visit the gardens.
I drive up the night before and stay so I am the first in the park at 10 am. was awesome.

Great for kids too.
You rent a safari vehicle and drive through and feed the animals. (Or ride their bus if during the year when they are running).
I went in Fall one year to see the leaves change. One of the best times in my life.
The safari only takes an hour or two at the most (if you sneak back through like I did, he, he).
Wild Animal Safari 1300 Oak Grove Rd, Pine Mountain, GA 31822
you can get discount passes at the local chamber of commerce once they open up.
The animal park is six hours from Ocala.

I signed up for the Sunken Gardens trip.

There is also FREE "Museum" Day in September from Smithsonian
(Mabel Ringling and Bok Tower are included.
It is a Saturday end of the month.
you need to sign up in advance and get a voucher.
Sign up begins in Spring.
Vouchers can be limited.
I'd look at the museum list early...

Bank of America has monthly museums
first full weekend of month..
free admission with BOA credit card.

Ravine Gardens is nice, I was going to go over the weekend but it was too cold.

Maybe keep tabs on State of Florida parks and events.
