FLOATZILLA - 2014

Floatzilla 2014 is coming August 16!!

The Floatzilla folks say "We hope you (and your friends) will join us this year on August 16 as we seek to set a world record, promote paddling on our rivers, and host the largest gathering of canoes, kayaks and paddleboards on the Upper Mississippi River".

Join some crazily dressed people, and ordinary ones in their endless quest to break the world's record for the largest raft (collection of floating non-motorized craft connected to each other by touching). The event culminates in a helicopter flyover taking a picture to count the number later. Technically it is not a difficult paddle and the "advanced" paddle mainly refers to distance only. If you want the longer paddle and to go through the locks register early as that always fills up well ahead of time.

Here is a link for registration and more information - there are several different options for put-ins and trip length.

I did use "QC Adventures and Saukenuk Paddlers" as club affiliation for this one. Don't know if it makes a difference but figured since its in their backyard it would be the 'nice' thing to do.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
