Overnight paddle with campout/canoe class - Banner Marsh - Peoria Park District.

  • Aug 9, 2014 · 3:00 PM

I am posting this for Chad and Jeff Fitch. It's info on some great canoeing classes right here in Peoria for anyone interested in helping or attending. There are multiple dates.

This is a night paddle, followed by overnight camping and then a paddle on Sunday.  You need to bring your own tent and camping gear but the camp sites, canoes, paddles and life vests are included in the fee.  Don't forget to bring a head lamp since it will be dark

Spots filled up quick last year so anyone you know wishing to join us that wants to learn some basic canoeing skills without buying a canoe should come!! If you wish to help out (and you have your own canoe/kayak) let Jeff know and you can come along to help him promote the greatest recreation on the planet! He'll need spotters and safety paddlers who know Banner and can assist hime with safely herding the group around the lake.

I was VERY interesting and excited about this event, but I threw my back out 2 days ago and with one arm tending to go numb with use, I need to rest it. Have fun..looks like the weather may clear up for you. I may stop by to help volunteer if I am feeling better.

FYI - some people come and just bring their own canoes and kayaks. Email Jeff if you have questions

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
