Mackinaw River - DNR to White Oaks

How about a paddle on the Mack this Saturday. The gauge levels are nice - 2.18 and 386 csf at Congerville today. This is a paddle (not a float) although intermittant dawdling for photos and eddy play is allowed. I want to emphasize it is not a float though - we are paddling. Bring a lunch and plenty of water as it might be hot. This is a 12.3 mile trip and we get off the river when we get off the river but I would estimate 4 to 6 hours from put-in to takeout time depending on the dawdling to paddling ratio. It's about 25 minute drive for the shuttle each way alone so if we meet at 9 am (kayak unloaded time - so get there earlier) at the DNR we can aim for a 10:00 am put in. Please RSVP if you are interested.

Since this is a river trip requiring a shuttle I am more fussy about RSVPs.  If you RSVP and change your mind you need to post by 7:30am the day of the trip time so we don't wait for you.  If you decide later to cancel post immediately.  No shows are an issue if people are waiting so be polite to everyone :).  As an FYI though we don't necessarily wait very long so be on time to the put-in.  Also RSVP ahead of time.  If it's a small group it's always possible plans could change and be different than at posting.

I had a great time. Tim and Chuck were very helpful with giving moving water coaching on thing like cross river ferries, surfing and using a throw rope.

See you at the put-in at 9am, with kayak already unloaded. FYI: I will be bringing my pickup truck.

I may go. I'll confirm, yes or no, later today or early this evening.

Here is a link to the put-in and take-out showing the shuttle.
The new google maps is odd and shows two routes on the shuttle so don't get confused. We will go together. I'd suggest though changing to old google maps to look at the route
