Gilboa Dive Trip

Everyone loves Gilboa Quarry with the plane, helicopter, bus, multiple boats, large Christmas tree and more.  This will be a fun day of diving.

After two dives, we will stop off in Decatur, Indiana at Arnold's Drive-n for the 50's experience, great lunch and hand dipped milkshakes!

Carpooling will be provided from the north parking lot of the Cracker Barrel at 96th Street and I69.  We need to leave early, because the quarry is about 3 hours away.

Great time at the meetup in Gilboa! It was nice to meet everyone and I hope to see all of you in the near future. Thanks to David Dewhirst for organizing and thanks to Brandon Hatcher for being a great tour guide as well as a good carpool buddy.

Wondering if we do a group dive will they give group rate for dive and staying overnight?

    June 8, 2013

    • David D.

There are no group rates. Camping and rooms at the quarry are available but expensive.

primitive camping at Gilboa is $8 a person... you can also rent the bunkhouse for $40 (includes roof, bed, and electric) and 4 people can stay at that price so $2 more than camping... Or I've also stayed at the Drury Inn (about 15 min drive) for 69 a night I believe with the diving rate and they serve a hot breakfast and dinner.

Hello everyone. I was wondering what the ideal wetsuit mm is for gilboa. I know it varies for depth but have only read that it's 52 surface and 42 at the tubes. That was also last month. Thanks

    • David D.

Jerry, you need a 7mm suit for Gilboa. Less than that, you will freeze.

Greetings all! Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself - http://www.retherfords.com/scuba/CoryRetherford/

Just got back from Gilboa over the weekend and had incredible visibility! Water was 56 at the surface to the first thermal at 20 feet which was 51 and a bone chilling 39 at depth.
