1 Night Backpack Appalachian Trail: Wind Gap to Delaware Water Gap 14.9 Miles

UPDATE ON MEETING SPOT:

We're going to meet at 9am at the Mount Minsi trail head. Not the parking lot in Wind Gap. We will then figure out how many cars we need to shuttle us back from that spot at the end of the trip, spot those cars and drive together with the remaining cars to the trail head in Wind Gap.

The parking lot is a little tough to find so PLEASE use the link at the top of this section. It gives exact location of the parking lot we will meet at.

Summary:

2 Day 1 Night 15 mile trip north on the AT ending at the Delaware Water Gap. We'll spot a few cars at the end to ferry us back.

First day will be an 8 mile hike to the Kickland Shelter area. We can cook and hang out there. Either setup tents or hike another half mile to an open meadow if we want more space.

On the second day we'll hike the remaining 7 miles over Mt Minsi into the Delaware Water Gap.

There are some nice sweeping vistas on the way to Minsi with a rock scramble or two, then Minsi itself is a great hike. The path is very rocky so ensure you have good ankle support.

Difficulty is moderate, total elevation gain is 2275 feet.

I have to cancel. I thought I'd be more productive this week but it looks like I'm going to work through the weekend to get caught up here at work. Have fun everyone!

So does that mean you changed your mind Saira? You will be with us this weekend? all that other stuff was made for weekdays. weekends are made for fun.

Unfortunately, yes, I won't be able to make it this weekend. Instead I'll be writing up reports all weekend - not fun! I'll definitely be caught up for the June trip. Hope to see and meet most of you then!

Yeah I plan to take 5 liters, I'm not sure of the availability of water on the trail. I will be taking my filter if we come across some.

if it helps and someone wants to devise a plan, I live 3 miles from the wind gap trailhead and can maybe meet and leave some cars there and carpool to meet the rest? leaving cars already at both ends.. just a thought

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
