Hi, everyone, and welcome to the second year of our Bedford Square picnic. As the keyholder, I shall be there at 6.30pm to welcome up to 50 London humanists. I shall have five litres of excellent Languedoc rosé wine, plus some still and sparkling water, plus about 24 disposable glasses, plates and cutlery. I shall also have a couple of cold chickens and some salads - probably enough for about 10 people. Thereafter, I shall be looking for contributions, so if someone would like to bring cheese, if someone else fancies baking a cake etc, and if anyone else has reserves of plastic cutlery and glasses, please volunteer any offers on this site - so we don't all bring the same thing. Please also brings rugs, lamps, collapsible tables or any other aids to comfort. But no ghetto-blasters, thank you very much! We can always nip into Tott Ct Rd Sainsburys for emergency supplies.

We were unlucky with the weather last year, and we will keep a close eye on the BBC weather forecast, so that if it looks like heavy rain on 19 Aug, we will aim to postpone for a week.

With best wishes,

Rupert Morris

Thank to for welcoming us. The abundance of comestible( new word to me), drink and issues left me somewhere bemused....

I was going to drop by the Sainsbury's on my way, perhaps picking up some bread or crackers. I'll also look into getting some berries during the day that I can wash at work before coming.

    •  Great fun, even better than last year. Thanks to Rupert for allowing us in!
    •  I'm a Humanist in from NY. The group is so welcoming. I had a very good time.

The weather and company were nice and I had a great time.

Great weather, lovely private square in central London. Nice new people to meet. It should be held several times a year - weather permitting!
    •  Really good food !
    •  A few new people added to the enjoyment. Always good to hear about experiences and ideas from an interesting bunch. A very cheery group.
    •  Everyone shared food and it was nice to meet some new members. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and it was a pleasant and laidback way to spend the evening.
    •  Lovely picnic .... glorious, warm evening, good food and wine, and interesting people ...
    •  Nice group of people (as ever), lovely garden, far too much lovely food, and perfect weather!
    •  My problem is (amongst all the others) dodgy hearing. Several people I met I couldn't hear well enough, so I settled with a very nice Australian couple, and we chatted greatly. The food was plentiful and very good, tho I did mostly cater for myself. And thanks for the weather. Seems a very nice bunch of people, as I would expect!

A very big thank you to Rupert Morris for again arranging the use of Bedford Square and for his generous supply of wine. Unlike last year, the weather was perfect. With a good turnout, plenty to eat and drink, stimulating conversation and yet more new faces, it was a great evening.
