Jim Herrick and Humanism

Author of several books on Humanism and the history of freethought.

Director of the Rationalist Press Association and editor of its journal New Humanist from 1984 until 2002

For 3 years until his retirement in 2005 literary editor of New Humanist.

In 2002 received the International Rationalist Award.

Editor of International Humanist News, published by the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU). In 1996 received the Distinguished Humanist Service Award from the IHEU.

From January 1977 until 1981, editor of the Freethinker and author of that publications's centenary history.

Founder member of the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association.

Currently vice-president of the National Secular Society.

The venue for this event will be the Hughes Parry Hall, which is about a five minute walk due south from our new social venue the Somers Town coffee house.

    Secretary (membership and e-reminders
    I thought it was a very good meetup and agree with Pat that Jim Herrick gave a very clear measured talk. I really enjoyed the Q&A session and Jim was very generous in his responses. I thought the venue was great. We need to get a few more people to attend to make the place really buzz. I wonder if some people are avoiding meetings because of fear of the dreaded swine flu? Really enjoyed a talk with a couple of people afterwards in the pub. We lost others who must have gone elsewhere.
