External Event - Pride in London Parade 2013

GALHA will joining Pride in London again this year and if you would like to join them and march under one Happy Humanist banner please get in touch with them.

Equality in all of society's institutions. The right to live and love in peace. The assertion of a morality based on human rights and not ancient texts. These are fundamental humanist values. And this year the UK has won a key battle in entrenching these values in our society. No matter what happens next, the June 4th vote by Peers to support the same-sex marriage bill is a triumph for humanist values.

Pride in London is Sat 29th June 2013 and Galha LGBT Humanists (the lesbian, gay, bi and trans section of the BHA) are marching in the parade. We want you to join us, whatever your orientation.

Join us!

Join Galha LGBT Humanists as we march in celebration. Bring pink jacks/flags, whistles and your outrageous selves to this family-friendly event. We'll provide you with handfuls of postcards, stickers and leaflets (Galha and Humanist Celebrant ones) to hand out. Everyone is welcome.

The theme of the 2013 parade is 'Love and Marriage'. We're in 'the ceremony' section of the parade and will be particularly promoting equal marriage and humanist weddings. It's a big year for both these campaigns.

RSVP 'Yes' now and come along for a great afternoon:[masked]/

Or simply join us on the day. If you haven't been to a Pride before, it's all pretty straightforward (and we're happy to answer questions). We assemble late morning on Baker St. Stewards will be on hand to guide you to us. The parade starts around 1pm and follows a walking route through central London to arrive in Trafalgar Square a little later (more here). You're then free to enjoy the festivities, or chat to people, handing out more literature in the square.

I won't be able to join Pride in London for the march, but will be in area of Baker St to wave you all off, as I'll be spending the afternoon across the road at Regent's Park Open air Theatre with my daughter watching the play of ..... wait for it....."Pride and Prejudice". Oh the irony!
