Central London Humanist Group Social and Food Drive for the Homeless

We've been allocated a room upstairs. Head for the bookcase, you'll find a staircase leading up to some function rooms. Hope that makes sense.

Every first Wednesday of the month we meet for a social evening at a central London pub. Please drop by if you're non-religious and you would like to meet like-minded people in a relaxed atmosphere.

If you're just questioning your beliefs and aren't sure where to turn, or you are non-religious and looking for an interesting evening of debate and good company, this could be just right for you.

Some people arrive at 6.00 p.m. straight after work, but there is no specific time to be there and people arrive throughout the evening. Quite often a group of us are still engaged in debate at closing time.

A voluntary donation of £2 suggested - but first timers are welcome to give us a free trial.

You'll find us on tables with signs saying reserved for humanists, normally about 40 people turn up so we are pretty easy to find, and a very friendly group, so please come along and meet us. We look forward to seeing you there.

We are also making our Food (& Toiletries) Drive for the Homeless a regular occurrence every other month at the same venue. The collection is for ‘Shelter from the Storm’ homeless shelter in the Kings Cross area. See the list below for items they need. People can drop their donations in to the Coffee House and a group of us will take them to the shelter later in the evening some time after 7.30. If you’re interested in getting involved with them as a volunteer they can be contacted via the web site. They have a Facebook page if you’d like to get a bit more of a feel for them, which also has fundraising events on it sometimes. https://www.facebook.com/shelterfromthestormlondon

If you’re interested in getting involved with a centre more local to you instead and are not sure what to expect or how to go about it, have a chat with Jan who helps out in her north London area, or let us put you in touch. Also if you know of other shelters in London that would appreciate humanist voluntary help let us know.

Much better in the private room- able to circulate more easily.

My apologies for the RSVP; unfortunately I won't be around on time! I will probably see some of you at Conway Hall tomorrow!

    Hi everyone,

Looking forward to seeing you all this evening. We have been given a private room to use this evening, with more space. In the clubroom which is one of the private dining rooms upstairs.

So if on entering the pub you go to the back area, through the bookcase, up the stairs and to the room right at the end of the hallway.

A glamorous meeting room for the last social meeting before our seasonal party.

We will try to station someone near the entrance to the upstairs, which is through a bookcase.

    Until this evening

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
