Dear Fellow Humanists due to a high demand for this event we have expanded the number of places available from 18 to 25.
RSVPing PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR PLACE BY MONDAY 20TH OCTOBER TO ENSURE YOU HAVE A PLACE BOOKED! We cannot guarantee places for those who do not RSVP. Please DO NOT rely on emailing or telling the organisers that you will be coming and not RSVP to the event. The RSVP feature is the only way we can accurately measure the number of people who will be coming along. The Down House staff are also independently checking our numbers, via the events meetup page, and are planning their staffing levels around the number of people who have RSVP'd.
TOUR The tour normally have a maximum of 15 places. The Rooms in Down House are a residential size and not very big. The venue is willing run a tour beyond 15 but obviously it would be a better experience with a tour group of the fewest number of people as possible, to ensure a more personal experience. We are hoping to have a full compliment of 25 people which would make two reasonably sized groups of 12-13 each, making for a much less crowded tour :)
PAYMENTS We may be providing a link to a paypal page to take payments for general admission and tour fee, so as to guarantee our tour places. If that is the case we will let you know buy a separate email. This would be approximately ?10 (includes admission, the 15% group discount and tour fee)
TRANSPORT Chelsfield station is within zone 6 making it possible for people to simply buy a 1-6 zone travelcard in order to get there from London Bridge. PREPAID OYSTER CARDS ARE NOT VALID FROM LONDON BRIDGE TO CHELSFIELD. There is also the possibility of using the 4for2 rail offer which would make four return tickets from London Bridge to Chelfield only ?12!! Yes ?12 for FOUR tickets. Rather than prebook rail tickets it will be simpler to decide on the day, as I'm sure people will find that one option or the other will provide them better value. We are still planning to hire local Taxi's - but any members planning on going with their own car and who can carry group members from Chelsfield station can email me directly through the meetup site.
MEETUP POINT The meeting point will be 10:30am outside the Marks and Spencers in the main London Bridge Rail Station concourse. Should that be closed for any reason we will meet just outside the main station enterance where the taxies pull up.
The Central London Humanist group [CLHG] provides a meeting place for Humanists, the secular, brights and other non religious people, particularly those who live or work in the Central London area.
Once a month we hold at least one social event and one or more talk/lecture on a subject of interest to our members. Our socials are very well attended and we have been venturing into new activities - Theatre visits, a trip to Charles Darwin's home, a group's picnic and a movie night.
So if you're not religious and would like to meet like minded people, join us.
Usually a small voluntary donation (suggested £2.00) is requested at meetings. However, you will be most welcome to come along for a trial free visit.
CLHG has raised funds for the Emitos Girls Humanist Football Club in Uganda. The project, located just outside of the capital Kampala, seeks to educate and empower girls aged 12-20 years through football. It provides educational sessions for the girls and parents alike, covering issues from the prevention of HIV/AIDs to the benefits of female empowerment, and encourages girls to compete alongside boys both on and off the pitch.
Thanks to the generosity of CLHG members and the general public we have transferred over £4,100 to the project. The Emitos girls now sport football strip emblazoned with "Central London Humanists".
