hi there, I swim 1k regularly (40 LENTHS 25M POOL) -but not very fast - about 40 mins - is this any use?
I don't fancy doing 5k...

I am planning to put forward a Central London Humanists sponsored swimming team for this year's Swimathon. If you have never heard of it before, it is "the world's largest fundraising swim", with thousands of swimmers taking part across the UK, and this year's nominated charity is Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The event itself will be taking place at a Central London pool on Saturday 18th April, (enough time to get some training in), and we will be entering the Distance Challenge of 5km.
Please email me if you fancy the challenge and would like to join the team. It is not a competitive event and you don't need to be a swimming star to take part - for my part I currently struggle to do 30 metres without getting out of breath, so any help with those lengths will be greatly appreciated! It will be fun day, a good way to get fit, as well as doing our part for a good cause. If you don't want to swim, then maybe you could come and help count laps, or maybe join us for a drink afterwards. And of course I hope everyone will be kind enough to sponsor us. Details for doing so will follow.
For more information about the Swimathon, do take a look at their website at http://www.swimathon.org
Let me know if you would like to be involved. Hope to have you on board!
