I am forwarding this message from the British Humanist Association (BHA) regarding another education campaign which CLHG members might wish to support.
A recent report has suggested that Personal, Social, Health and Economic education should become statutory. The BHA strongly supports this suggestion as we are committed to encouraging informed and responsible choices and believes all children are entitled to high quality and comprehensive PSHE, including Sex and Relationships Education (SRE).
However, there is a risk that the right of parents to withdraw their children from SRE will mean that some children may not get the high quality education that they should be entitled to. In addition, ?faith schools? may retain the right to determine their school?s approach to the sex and relationship education (SRE) aspect of PSHE, so that it can be ?... delivered in line with the context, values and ethos of the school.?
