Dear members,

Please see the message below from Bedfordshire Humanists regarding meeting up with other humanists at this climate change event:

Unfortunately the event clashes with Amnesty's London Conference so I won't be there but I'm sure other CLHG members will. Have posted this message on the meetup message board so please direct all replies there or directly to David ([address removed]):

Dear colleague,

I'm sure you will be aware of "The Wave" Demonstration which is being organised by about 30-odd charities (plus the Co-op) and which will take place in London on the 5th December. Its purpose is to try to concentrate the government's mind when it attends the Copenhagen conference on climate change next month...

The issue of global warming has been of great interest to The Beds Humanists, not least because some religious practices - especially regarding population control - have done much to exacerbate the problem over the years.

Anyway, several members of the Beds Humanists will be attending the event, and we will have a large overhead banner stating "Bedfordshire Humanists" so that people will be able to find us - even amongst the tens of thousands who will doubtless be there.

... But it occured to us that we are not the only humanists who will be interested enough in climate change to join the demonstration, and we would like to encourage any other Humanists out there to come over and say "hello" when they see our banner. With this in mind, we would be very grateful if you could circulate the attachment to as many fellow humanists as possible within your own group - and tell them we would be delighted to meet any like-minded humanist - especially from amongst our neighbours in the London area!

... The idea of encouraging people to hand over a form in order to win a bottle of wine is simply to give those who might be a bit reticent, an excuse to come over and at least say "hi".

Thanks ...

Kind regards,

David Brittain
