Subject: [Central-London-Humanists] Grand total for UNICEF Haiti collection, Sat 6th

Dear members,

Yesterday CLHG members and friends met at Sloane Square tube station to collect for UNICEF’s Haiti appeal. I’m delighted to announce that we raised a total of ?823.32!

Thank you to everyone who helped over the course of the day, in particular Jon de Beer, Amit Malde, Phuong Quan, Steve Brown, David Milton, Sarah Batt, Marco Tranchino, Tobias, Alison McCants, Adam White, Kate Scott, Sam Turner and friend, Robert Cavill and Alex Bell. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thanks also to Josh who popped by for morale support!

Photos of the day can be found here (thanks Marco!):

The money will be transferred to UNICEF who will use it to deliver humanitarian aid to Port au Prince following the earthquake. As well as distributing supplies such as water, nutrition, shelter and medicine (so far, UNICEF supplies for 250,000 children have arrived and are being distributed), UNICEF have also begun registering unaccompanied children found in the capital who are lost or separated from their families and have established ‘Safe Spaces’ for these children to stay in.
