I will be leading the second part of my Chess valley mid-week walk on Thursday 1st August from Chesham to Chorleywood. The 6.5 mile linear walk will include a visit to Chenies Manor which is only open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 2-5pm. This is a private house not NT or English Heritage and costs £7 entrance fee for the house and garden and includes a guided tour of the house - see link:
For those of you that don't want to visit the house, the finish of the walk at Chorleywood is just a mile away.
From Chesham, we follow the River Chess towards the pretty village of Latimer for a quick picnic lunch after 3.5 miles. We then continue walking through fields in the valley near the River Chess to Chenies bottom before climbing through woods to the village of Chenies and the Manor. Estimated time at reaching Chenies Manor after 5.5 miles is 3.15pm.
Meet at Chesham tube station at 12.15. I'll meet you at Chesham. Take the 11.12 Chiltern line train from Marylebone, change at Chalfont and Latimer at 11.43 and catch the 12.05 Met line which will arrive at Chesham at 12.14. Alternatively catch the 11.15 Met line Chesham branch from Baker Street.
Lunch will be a short picnic stop at Latimer as there is no pub nearby. We can choose to have tea at Chenies Manor or at Chorleywood. The expected finish time will be 5.30pm at Chorleywood.
Chiltern Line trains from Chorleywood are 3 and 33 mins past the hour with met line trains running more frequently.
