Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix 2014, MINI is the Honored Marque!

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is a great event that spans over a week with vintage races each weekend. Mini is the Honored Marque for 2014 and there are lots of great events planned for all Mini/MINIs. Pit Stop MINI is usually involved in this event. The main MINI event is on Saturday the 19th but there are events throughout the week. Not all the plans are set yet. Here are some links with some information that will be updated as the date gets closer. This looks like an event that you need to make your reservations early.

If your GPS can do intersections you could do Second Ave and 10th Street Bridge and that should bring you there.

Here are directions to the Saturday Morning Meeting point (Second Ave Parking Lot) from the Quality Inn University Center since I know some of you are staying there. Directions from Quality Inn University Center
You'll want to turn out of the Quality Inn parking lot heading East on Boulevard of the Allies - the hotel is located on a 5-way intersection so you'll want to be heading towards the sign that says "To East 376 Monroeville / Glenwood". You'll go ~0.1 mi and turn Right onto Bates Street (It'll be the first right, the road is lined with trees). Then just follow Bates ~0.3 mi and you'll come to a T intersection with a red light at Second Ave. You'll make a Right onto Second Ave. Follow Second Ave along the river for ~1.5 miles. There is a stop light at the entrance to the parking lot (it'll be on your left). If you make it to the 10th Street Bridge intersection - you've gone too far!

      Hi Paula!
We will be sending out detailed information to all registrants before the event...
Hotels: You can take a look at the PVGP partner hotels at http://www.pvgp.org/h... or I know some MINI owners have chosen to stay at the Quality Inn University Center. http://www.qualityinn... Which is a more affordable option and only 2 miles from our Saturday meeting location. The Saturday morning meeting point will be the parking lot on Second Ave near the 10th street bridge. Coordinates:[masked],[masked] It's just a parking lot, so it doesn't really have it's own address. If you need help with directions, email me at [masked] and let me know what hotel you decided to stay in and I can get you directions from there. Hope to see you there!

Yep, joined PSM and registered thru them, but I was referring to another event where you ride as a passenger in one of the MINIs driven by a professional driver. Pricey, $120 for 3 passengers, but divided among 3 people, not too bad...

Many of us have joined the PittStop MINI meetup group and registered for the event through them. It gives you a discount on the registration for the weekend and includes the track laps.

Ok, booked at Quality Inn as well. Good location as it's really close to Schenley Park. It's also close to The Big O, which has the best french fries on the planet.

The vintage grand prix is a great event. As a Pittsburgh native I remember it in it's infancy. The drive through Schenley Park is not to be missed, and the display of cars, especially of the featured marque is always impressive.
