The Catoctin Colorfest takes place each October in Thurmont. Thurmont is a small town, but during the Colorfest the population doubles to over 10,000 people. The main festivities include craft vendors from around the country. Many residents, shops, and local organizations set up food stands and yard sales throughout town.
Last year there were more than 360 vendors selling crafts like quilts, furniture, pottery, art, candles, and stained glass decorations. There were hundreds of tents all over town. Crafts were being sold all along main street and inside the community park. Even the parking lots near Cozy restaurant were full of people. It will take a whole day to browse through the crafts and sample different foods.
We will do a short run through the back roads to Thurmont and park at the school on the edge of town. Shuttle buses run from the parking lot to downtown or you can walk it. Bring cash for parking (donation) $10, I think, and for all the food goodies!
