Baltimore Reads Book Bank

The Baltimore Reads Book Bank has provided more than 1,000,000 new and gently used children's books to disadvantaged families in Baltimore since 1992. Their goal is to spark family reading at home by making sure there are plenty of books available.

Volunteers are needed to help organize books at the Book Bank. On days when the weather is favorable, volunteer organizers at the Book Bank often arrange for volunteers to work outdoors!

The Book Bank is located at the back of The Baltimore Sun warehouse complex. The Book Bank can be difficult to find, so be sure to follow the directions at

This event has been very popular with volunteers who work with children. An extra benefit of sorting books for the Baltimore Reads Book Bank is the nostalgia trip you'll experience when you see books that you just might remember from your childhood...!

For those who are interested, we may go to lunch at a nearby restaurant after this event.

Unfortunately, I have reinjured an old neck injury and cannot do anything the least bit physical at the moment. I'm disappointed; will be watching for the next one.

There's a link in the event info that points to directions to the entrance to the warehouse. I highly recommend reading the directions, because the warehouse is hard to find. (How to get to the entrance by bus is up to you.)

I would love to go and I don't have anything scheduled right now. About how long do we usually stay? (So I can plan the rest of my day accordingly).
