Nashua River Rail Trail

We'll be parking on the Ayer, MA, end of the trail and riding to the other end in Nashua, NH, then back to our cars. The round trip is just over 25 miles on a mostly flat surface. There's ice cream available at the Nashua end and a couple of decent places to eat both in Ayer and Pepperall (is along the way).

I had great fun today too. I should have opted to stay and eat, though. By the time I was through visiting my elderly neighbors, it was 9:15 at night, lol. Hadn't eaten enough but you don't visit octagarians for less than 45 minutes each (and I have 5 around me). They value the company too much, even when it's to warn them there are thieves in the hood.

It was a Beautiful Day on a mostly shady and flat trail. It was great riding with fun people, some I haven't seen in a while and some I just met!

I almost forgot. I ran into Sheila on the trail, she was unable to join us but found us anyway.

Does anyone have a GPS address for the Ayer, MA parking lot? I usually start in Nashua.

I'm in. Should I ride my road bike or mountain bike. I've done both there. What is your pace? If others are riding mountain or hybrids then I'll ride the mountain bike.

I take my Mountain bike with this group. It seems everyone else is on a mountain or hybrid bike. See you Sunday. No Falling down between now and then. :)

I need an emissions test and need to do the DMV Saturday morning. If I run late, I will need to cancel :(

Good luck, Steve, hope all goes without a hitch.

If it's raining, it might put a damper on our ice cream treats in Pepperall, lol. It's too early to cancel, but if it does rain, I'll make the rain date the following day, Sunday, June 9th, same time and place.

There's a nice little ice cream shop in Pepperell, and Main Street Cafe in Groton is about a 1/4 mile off the trail. This is one of my favorite rail trails which happens to be in my home town.

Yeah, we usually stop at the ice cream shop on the return ride. Helps to replenish our energy.

Will we be venturing into the non paved portion of the trail?

    May 30, 2013

    • Sue B

Just doing the paved portion will be around 25 miles. So, unless the group itself might be interested, I would say no to the unpaved portion. On the other hand, if there's enough interest, I could schedule on off road ride there.

June 8 is the Riverfest at Shelburne Falls. I'm still trying to figure out some summer plans. I do want to do this Rail Trail!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
