Mercer County Park: Casual pace- Beginner friendly (7-9miles):

35miles of Mercer Part 2

My 35th birthday falls on Saturday the 9th.  I decided I wanted to challenge myself to mountain bike a mile for each year.  I am posting this as a 3 separate rides.  If anyone wants to join for part or all that would be awesome.

Plan is to leave the lot at 10:30am.  Hit the 7 miles of trails on the West side of the Marina.  If the group is keeping a good pace we might add in a few extra sections to bump the mileage up to 8 or 9 miles. .

Mercer County park is hands down, the most beginner friendly trails around. There are some roots, but nothing excessive. There are log overs of different sizes, but most have go-arounds. It's mostly flat, with no challenging hills to worry about.

We'll roll out at 10:30am sharp, so please try to get there a bit early. We'll do a nice casual ride with rest stops as needed. Figure on about 1.5 to 2 hours.

You can get by on these trails with a hybrid bike IF it leans more towards mountain bike. Meaning.....even though the trails are tame, you still do need some type of knobbies for traction, doesn't have to be big aggressive knobbies, but some type of tread. Skinny smooth road tires won't cut it.

Helmets are a must. And please bring a spare tube (flats are not uncommon at Mercer due to thorns). I'll have a pump and tools and will assist with any issues along the way.

Also bring water that you can carry on the ride.

Nobody left behind.

Happy birthday! I look forward to riding with you. I'd like to think I'll be up & ready for the 7:30 portion but can't promise I'll be up & ready.

The 10:30 ride will be a nice casual pace and you can always choose to stick around for the afternoon ride as well.
