Join "Columbus Creative Photography" Group for a session on abstract photos

We will be joining the Columbus Creative Photography Group for a session led by Ua Chamberlain on "Abstracts in Nature". We will start at the Highbanks Nature Center. While some of us may wander for miles looking for the perfect abstract opportunity, I think there will be hundreds of possibilities within a stone's throw of the center.

They have bird feeders at the Nature Center and you can do some bird shots while you are there.

Oops! Ua just pointed out the building is closed until noon. So, we will not be able to warm up inside.

We will stop at Frisch's Big Boy for lunch after the shot, unless someone knows a better spot.

Here is a link to the Columbus Creative Photography site if you are interested in seeing more about our friendly "rival" group. As usual, we promote also belonging to other groups because our mission is your photographic enjoyment.

Thanks Bob and Ua. I enjoyed the outing and exposure to the knowledge. I am happy with a couple of shots. The more I learn the more I realize there is to learn.

Had a good time and looked at things differently. Came away with a couple of new ideas and got a couple of shots I'm happy with, and as we talked about, that's the important thing.

I really enjoyed this meet up. It took me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to explore new approaches to photography and new features in my camera. I'd like more of this type of experience.

I had a great time working with everyone today! Thank you so much for joining us.

I started a discussion that has a list of places to print your photographs. Check it out if you are interested: http://www.meetup.com/Centeral-Ohio-Photo-Group/messages/boards/thread/39757822/#[masked]

Very nice opportunities to get creative and attempt some abstract shots. Always great to get out with other enthusiastic photographers.

It was great. Loved Ua's presentation as well as the camaraderie of the two groups.

Great meetup this morning, despite Rte 23's best efforts to delay us! I'm never been much of a 'group' person but this was a very informal yet informative time. Thanks Bob for putting it on and Ua for leading/teaching. Hope to see you folks again on another meetup soon and I'll post pics soon as possible (assuming there are decent one's to post) ;o)

I am so dissapointed because I was really looking forward to this. I have to take my daughter to Dr. at 10:30. Pretty sure it is strep.

I hope your daughter feels better soon.

Looking forward to this outdoor shoot at beautiful Highbanks.

I'm planning on attending but recently sold my MFT gear and have only a kit lens to use with my new Fuji so macro ability is limited for the short term. I'll be there to learn and begin training my brain to see in a new way though.

Be sure to wear warm and durable clothing because sometimes photo ops are accessible only by kneeling or laying on the ground.
Ua suggests bringing your macro equipment and/or very fast lenses (for cool bokeh).

I have started an Abstract Art photo album to be used for showing your abstract works.
Abstract Art is basically straying from reality in some way. It can be totally different from reality or slightly different from reality. It can be achieved in the camera or in post processing, whichever you prefer. So, let your creative juices flow and show us your pictorial sojourns into the world of unreality. I hope we will get a lot of examples to allow people to explore this exciting concept and to come up with new and different ways to achieve it. There are no right or wrong abstracts. You should expect that not everyone will like your work, but that's life.

Sounds like fun ~ I do abstracts ~ but I will be out of town.
