Wild Lights at The Columbus Zoo

This will be a cold event, so be sure to dress warm. You will want to have a tripod. See our tips for shooting the lights on the pages tab.

Had a good time. We had good weather and were able to see most of the lights before the big crowds came.

Turned out to be a perfect weather night for the shoot. I had lots of fun.

Sorry, I'm not going to be able to make it tonight. The system won't let me change my RSVP to no.

I may go early, but don't know when I can get there. I'll look for you.

Well, the forecast is for warm temperatures, but rain/snow might be coming soon. So, if the weather somehow turns ugly, feel free to just not show up, I'll understand. I will be there regardless since I have a membership and it costs me nothing to go. I won't wait past 4:10 at the entrance and sunset is at 5:07 so let's set up a second meeting time and place at 5:30 at the platform by the end of the lake farthest from the entrance.
Tie a piece of white ribbon or cloth on your camera strap so we can recognize each other.

Hi Bob, I will be there, what lens do you think we should be using?? Thanks Judy Smith

I will be using an[masked]mm kit lens. Mostly at 18 mm, I think. A wide angle might be interesting also. Take a look at the albums with previous years Wild Lights pics and you'll see what kinds of shots appeal to you.

Note that most double A batteries suffer from the cold, but the Energizer Ultimate Lithiums are stated to work at 40 below zero. I don't think it will be that cold, though.
