On a scale of 1(new) to 10(expert) where do you feel you belong?

I feel I am around a 6.5. I have a pretty good eye for framing and angles, a thorough understanding of lighting, use of depth of field and bokeh to drive interest, as well as an understanding of how to use different settings to achieve the desired effect. Having said that, there is always room to learn and grow, new techniques to explore and information to share.

What are your favorite types of photos?

I like photos that grab your attention and make you think. A bit of abstract thrown in with a healthy does of realism. Macro photography is a favorite because you can make every day objects larger than life. I like photos with good depth and contrast as well as rich and varied colors.

What areas of photography would you like to grow in?

Styles and Techniques related to lighting and composition.

What camera and flash equipment do you have now?

Our current list of Nikon DSLRs includes: D3100 D5100 D600 Lenses (DX): 18-55 AF-S VR [masked] AF-S VR 35mm AF-S [masked] AF-S VR Lenses (FX): 24-85 AF-S VR[masked] [masked] AF-S VR[masked] Flash: SB600 SB700 Stroboframe bracket switching between landscape and portrait. I also have a HTC EVO 4G LTE which takes surprisingly good 8mp photos, when I do not have one of the Nikons with me.

I have been an avid photographer since my first Polaroid camera when I was young. Now my camera of choice is the Nikon D600. I enjoy nature, landscape, macro, and portrait photography. You can find me on Instagram as Kitesurfingken.
