COUNT focuses on volunteering and outreach. The projects that we take on are those that help the world around us and positively affect the lives and reputations of atheists and other non believers.
Every week we will meet to review those upcoming projects and then spend some time discussing a weekly topic that will help develop and support the local atheist/non-theist community, discuss secular viewpoints, encourage a positive atheist/non-theist culture, and provide opportunities for socializing and friendship.
This week, we will be discussing atheism and skepticism. The word atheism only describes the absence of belief in gods, which means that there is nothing self-contradictory about atheists who believe in astrology, alien abductions, Bigfoot, psychic powers, and a host of other mystical, supernatural, and paranormal things. Do you consider yourself a skeptic? What are you skeptical of? Which came first: your atheism or your skepticism?
If we have time, we’ll open up the floor to other topics. Afterwards, we are would love to spend time hanging out, having a few drinks, and getting to know one another.
Atheist, agnostics, other non-theists, and atheist-friendly people are welcome to join us.
