COUNT Volunteer Activity: Light The Night Community Fundraising Program - Walk

COUNT and the Columbus Coalition of Reason (CoR) invites you to participate in the Light The Night (LTN) community fundraising program for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Camp Quest Ohio, The Humanist Community of Central Ohio and other Columbus CoR member groups have also joined the Columbus Coalition of Reason Light the Night team.

LTN walkers are asked to solicit donations individually while Columbus CoR groups hold fundraisers. Then, on October 12th, walkers will attend the local walk ceremony at the Scioto Mile with the rest of our group.

The Columbus CoR team is part of the International Foundation Beyond Belief team led by team captain Brittany Shoots-Reinhard. Last year, Foundation Beyond Belief raised $430,000 for LTN.

In addition to supporting a good cause, this is an opportunity for us to raise awareness of local atheist groups doing good without God. Join us (scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the red “Join” button) the team or donate here.

COUNT would like to encourage you become a Champion For Cures by raising $100 or more. Every Champion For Cures will receive the following benefits on walk night:

- A Light The Night T-shirt

- An illuminated Light The Night balloon

- A wristband which entitles the walker to food and refreshments on the night of the walk

This is a very obtainable goal as Light The Night participants raise an average of $220 to support the fight against cancer. Social media is very powerful. Use Facebook, twitter, and other forms of social media as part of your toolkit when soliciting donations.

Below is some important information that you may need while signing up:

Team Name: Columbus Coalition of Reason - FBB

Date: 10/12/2013

Please update your RSVPs so we can tell who to look for on Saturday. I am interested in meeting up with other COUNT walkers for a bite. Not sure about the layout but you can leave messages here or text/call me at[masked] that night. I can be there well before 7 so let me know who wants to meet me.

Foundation Beyond Belief's Light The Night Registration Week is August 5-11! Any walkers or captains registered by the end of the week will be entered in a raffle for one of five $25 gift cards. The Team Captains of the four largest teams will each receive a $100 gift card, and all Team Captains will all be entered in a drawing for a $25 AmEx card. Plus, if we're one of the biggest teams, I will donate my Captain's prize to a silent auction to benefit our Columbus CoR LTN team. JOIN OUR TEAM AT

Hi you guys, didn't know where to post it:) I talked to Gail yesterday and it seems like she had a successful operation on Tuesday. She's on a way to recovery but, as we all know it, it's not an easy process. She is totally homebound for a while and bored:) So if anybody has time, check in on her even if to make some inappropriate atheist jokes:)
