COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)

(Note: this time we are on the 2nd Sunday instead of the 1st due to a schedule conflict.)

Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH as Housewarmers. If you have access, please RSVP on the online RMH scheduling system as well as here.

Others need to complete an online application and attend orientation in advance. At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check, tour the facility and sign up for your first of three training shifts. Daily shifts are: morning 9 am - 1 pm, afternoon 1 pm - 5 pm and evening 5 pm - 9 pm.

If you have have applied and attended orientation but either have not completed your training or haven't been granted access to the online scheduling system yet, you may be able to schedule working with us by contacting Kate Ziegler at [masked] or (614) 227-1107.

RMH is a 70 room hotel largely operated by volunteers. Families with a sick child at Nationwide Children's Hospital (or other Franklin county hospital like OSU) stay there and agree to clean their room while there. Here is the description of this volunteer position from RMH:

"Housewarming Volunteer

Work with our guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. Our Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and attend an orientation before they can start volunteering. our Volunteer Application can be completed online by clicking here, or can be downloaded by clicking here. Once we have received your application we will sign you up for an orientation session."
