Nora's "House Rules"

Euchre House Rules (Nora’s)

o Team that calls trump takes 3-4 tricks = 1 pt
o Team that calls trump takes 5 tricks = 2 pt
o Team that calls trump takes LESS than 3 tricks = EUCHRE and other team gets 2pts
o GOING ALONE: 4 pts if all tricks are taken
1 pt if 3-4 tricks are taken
EUCHRE if LESS than 3 tricks are taken and other team gets 2 pts.
You must follow suit if you have it in your hand**be careful the LEFT bower is now trump**
Stick the dealer: If trump has not been called by second time around and it gets to the dealer, they have to call trump and hand is played out.
You can not call trump unless you HOLDING one of those suits in your hand.
If you are dealt ONLY 9s and 10s you can show your hand ask for a re-deal.

Remember: What ever suit is called trump that AUTOMICALLY moves the Jack of the suit to the highest value and Jack of the same color suit 2nd highest in value, then the Ace, K, Q, 10, 9. For example if Spades is trump:
Jack of spades highest (RIGHT Bower)
Jack of clubs 2nd highest (LEFT Bower)
Ace of spades 3rd highest
K of spades 4th highest
Q of spades 5th highest
10 of spades 6th highest
9 of spades 7th highest

Additional info:
1) If the dealer picks up the trump card and forgets to discard, that is a renege.

2) If you don't follow suit and the next person has already played a card, that is a renege. If you realize your mistake and pick it up before the next card has been played, there is no penalty.

3) All reneges are 2 points to the other team.

4) If you get a hand that is all 9's and 10's you can show it and ask for a redeal.
