What's Tichu? Tichu is your new favorite partnership card game. Don't believe me. Read what folks are saying about Tichu online. Tichu doesn't have to be the only thing that is played but it will be the focus and I'll have some poster size player aids for those new to the game. Tichu is a "climbing game" and that means that you and your partner are trying to get rid of your cards first.
Ward Batty has a great article on Tichu you may want to check out in deciding to come.
This one is for grown-ups only. My wife will have the kids entertained for the most part but if a six-year-old boy comes running in to tell you what Sonic did on his Gamecube, pay him no mind.
:-).
Who should come? People who want to learn a new card game that many people enjoy at work during lunch and with other couples.
What if we don't have multiples of four? There's a ton of games in the house while you wait for your turn at a Tichu table.
Is Tichu hard like Bridge? Not at all. Bridge players, however, generally take right to the game and their ability to count cards is helpful to them. It helps to know standard Poker hands (this is not a gambling game) and the player aids will help with that if you don't know them.
How long does a Tichu game take? Most people play to 1000 points and this generally takes 30 minutes to an hour.
Bring a Tichu deck if you have one and your favorite snacks to share. I'll have several card tables set up for the game. Later on we'll probably order pizza.
Come play. It's a card game that you will enjoy that can fit in your glove compartment and be taught to others who will also enjoy the game.
