Epic Board Games - Twilight Imperium

The Lazax empire has fallen - first into decay, and then, after a long twilight, into history. It is done and gone, but a new day is dawning, and your people have a new chance to mold the Twilight Imperium to the design of your race.

I'm sorry, we posted on Facebook that we were opening at 11, but didn't correct the meetup. I hope you didn't give up? I normally run the teaching sessions, but couldn't turn down a last minute chance to attend GenCon. I am terribly sorry.

Saturday, August 17 at 10:00 AM at Wonko's? It's 10:12 and they are still closed. Has this been canceled?

TI usually runs 1 to 1-1/2 hours per player, although I've seen a couple shorter games. As previously discussed, however, there will probably be shorter games running as well.

so what ur saying is a 5 player game will be 5 hours long?

      August 15, 2013

Chad, expect it to go 8 hours... maybe faster if you are lucky, but 8 hours would be the safest way of thinking about it. They will (rightfully so) try to play with ~6 players, but one or two will probably be relatively new. It's a good game, but a long one.

Others are welcomed. We expect 1 table for D&D, and two for TI. Should be at least one more table for open gaming or Magic.

    Snacks are welcomed :)
I've had a change of plans however and will be at GenCon :( You guys and gals have fun without me. Denise and Erica will be tending the store, so have fun and I expect to see many many war subs blowed up :)

Should we bring anything? Snacks, drinks, etc? (or should we NOT bring those things into the store?)

This is for my out of town visitor, who is a good gamer but has never played this one.

I have a friend that might want to play, will there be gamers for open gaming, too?

    What ruleset do you use?

We use adjusted 7- and 8-player layouts, to better balance access to hexes, and distribute a pair of factories and colonies to each player. The latter is because the first time we used them, someone (*whistles innocently*) built something like four factories before the other players caught on. Probably that isn't something which would happen again, but we still try to keep that balanced.

Continuing- I think everything else is per official optional rules. We don't use all of them - I don't know that I've ever played using mines, leaders, or Voice of the Council, and using shock troops is a coin flip. Overall, we try to get a consensus about what options we use, so if there's a strong objection to an option, it's not used.

I've not played, but I'll watch some videos on YouTube to speed the learning curve.
