It's always fun to find great places to eat (I love trying to find somewhere great that my son hasn't yet discovered, something not all that easy to do these days!), and it's always wonderful to try different BBQ places and get a great "debate" going about what's the best place in Central Texas. So we're going to have a Central Texas Foodies BBQ Trail series over the next few months, trying different BBQ joints around Austin and Central Texas. Sometimes they'll be close to home; sometimes there'll be a little bit of a drive. This is a test of your dedication as a true aficionado of the 'cue!
Micklethwait's Craft Meats appears to be one of those BBQ secrets that is slowly becoming known. Rumor hath it it's as good as Franklin's, without the lines. Well, let's find out! We need to be there at opening, as it's said that if you aren't, you're likely to leave hungry as the ravening BBQ hordes have already decimated the place. So don't be late!
If you know a place you think is great and you're not afraid that sharing with your fellow Central Texas Foodies will lead to its downfall due to becoming too well known to the hoi polloi, please let me know at [masked] and I'll put it on the schedule!
