BBQ Trail Stop 5! Miller's Smokehouse, Belton

It's always fun to find great places to eat (I love trying to find somewhere great that my son hasn't yet discovered, something not all that easy to do these days!), and it's always wonderful to try different BBQ places and get a great "debate" going about what's the best place in Central Texas. So we're going to have a Central Texas Foodies/North Austin Social Group BBQ Trail series over the next few months, trying different BBQ joints around Austin and Central Texas. Sometimes they'll be close to home; sometimes there'll be a little bit of a drive. This is a test of your dedication as a true aficionado of the 'cue!

Miller's Smokehouse in Belton is on Texas Monthly's newest list of the Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas. (The other one on the list on the schedule for the Foodies for Saturday May 18th is Louis Mueller's in Taylor; we'll hopefully hit some of the others, though I do like going off the beaten path!) The Yelp reviews are great; I've always been a Schoepf's girl, myself, when seeking BBQ north of the ranch, but it looks like I might have to convert if the stories are true!

If you know a place you think is great and you're not afraid that sharing with your fellow Central Texas Foodies will lead to its downfall due to becoming too well known to the hoi polloi, please let me know at [masked] and I'll put it on the schedule!

Of the 11 (including one from another Meetup) who RSVP'd Yes, 6 attended. Those who didn't show up missed a great meal. I had the brisket (smokey!), potato salad, and beans, and took home some pork ribs (only available Friday and Saturday) and blackberry-cherry cobbler for my husband, who kindly shared a couple of bites of the ribs with me (and we split the cobbler). Oh, my God. The ribs are amazing!
